International Women’s Day Spotlight: The Women Behind Our Recruitment Teams

International Women’s Day is recognised each year in March, marking a long history of women advocating for equality, opportunity, and better workplaces. In people-centred professions like healthcare and law, that spirit shows up every day: in the ones who stay steady under pressure, step up when it matters, and back themselves even when the path isn’t clear.

But this article isn’t here to explain International Women’s Day. It’s here to spotlight a few of the women in our teams whose journeys reflect independence, growth, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping others move forward.

It’s a spotlight on stories that reflect that same energy: relocating across countries, building recruitment desks, stepping into leadership, and staying steady through the ups and downs that can come with agency recruitment.

Key Summary – at a glance

  • Relocating across countries to build a new life and career in Sydney is a major achievement in itself.
  • Some have progressed quickly into leadership or senior responsibility through consistency, independence, and high standards.
  • Others run demanding markets as one-person teams, showing exactly what can be done by backing yourself.
  • Backgrounds in nursing and teaching bring a “people-first” edge that shows up every day in how they work.

Dental’s story

Sophia’s time is one of the clearest examples of independent growth and leadership in the business. Relocating from New Zealand to Sydney is a big move on its own and Sophia has shown it can be done.

The Dental division has expanded under her leadership. When the team needed stability and direction, she stepped into it, and grew the division into a powerhouse women-led team. That kind of growth in recruitment usually comes down to consistency: staying sharp, and being reliable.

Also in the Dental team:

Both have joined the team recently with strong backgrounds and a drive to help people. If you’re in dental recruitment or exploring your next move, you can reach out to either of them as well.

Operation’s story

Amanda’s role is one of those “if you know, you know” positions. She keeps the day-to-day running properly across office operations, events, invoicing and payments, expenses, commissions, supplier agreements, locum support and the admin detail that holds the entire workflow together.

In a busy environment, that kind of presence becomes a stabiliser. Amanda’s contribution is the kind that quietly protects everyone else’s ability to do their job properly, and that is a form of leadership in itself.

Locum’s story

Ellie’s background includes work as a mental health nurse assistant in the NHS, and that “people-first” foundation shows in how she approaches recruitment: calm, direct, and genuinely supportive.

In her first year pivoting into recruiting she’s built unprecedented traction, helping more locum doctors each month and growing the locum’s one-person team to a point where expansion is on the horizon. Doing that early in a recruitment career isn’t easy.

Allied Health’s story

Emma’s growth into Associate Director and the management team is a strong example of what happens when someone backs themselves, does well, and consistently raises the standard of their work. Starting in a team environment and progressing into leadership, she reflects the ability to support others while still delivering her own outcomes.

She’s also built a strong presence in her market: sharing many allied health and NDIS related updates, and delivering insightful webinars that help her contacts. With a teaching background, Emma brings clarity in how she leads.

Rachel is also a great example in our team, she relocated from Ireland to Sydney and runs our Occupational Rehabilitation section in allied health similarly as a one-person team.

She also has a teaching background and is actively involved in promoting mental health awareness, including participating in charity runs and various events. It’s a great reflection of the values she brings into her work.

Megan brings a different kind of strength and something quite special: coming from a former NHS nursing background, she has the experience that shapes the way she supports people, and the team around her.

She’s the kind of person who helps her team function better just by being steady, practical, and kind. The fact she actually also has nursing skills is almost symbolic.

Esther has also taken on the challenge of relocating from the UK to Sydney and works in our mental health space in allied health. She’s got a people-focused background, and what always shines is a consistent interest in helping people find roles where they can actually settle and do great for the long term.

Esther’s strength is that she approaches her work with care and consistency which is exactly what builds trust over time.

In Summary

International Women’s Day gets framed in big ideas, but it’s also reflected in practical, personal choices: relocating, stepping into leadership, running things successfully independently, bringing skills from past careers into a new one, and showing up through all kinds of uncertainty. That’s what this spotlight hoped to recognise.

“A lot of what’s been built here has been built by these women. They’ve earned their place through consistency, resilience, and how they show up for people”, Jimmy Bosmans, Managing Partner of Gorilla Jobs, reminds everyone.
