Gorilla Jobs Opens Manchester Office: Dental Recruitment UK

After eight years of building one of Australia’s most respected healthcare and legal recruitment agencies, Gorilla Jobs is bringing its proven model to the United Kingdom. Our new Manchester office marks the beginning of an ambitious expansion – fully funded, strategically focused, and built for rapid growth.

A Strategic Move, Not a Tentative Step

This is not a pilot project or a cautious toe in the water. Gorilla Jobs UK launches with the full backing of an established, profitable Australian operation and a clear mandate: to become a leading specialist healthcare recruiter in the UK market.

Since 2017, we have built Gorilla Jobs on a foundation of sector expertise, transparent processes, and genuine relationships. We have served over 8,000 clients globally, earned more than 500 five-star reviews, and invested over $1 million in marketing and technology infrastructure. Now, we are deploying that same capability – and capital – to address the UK healthcare sector’s recruitment challenges.

Why the UK, Why Now

The UK healthcare sector faces well-documented recruitment pressures. Practices and healthcare providers need recruitment partners who understand their specific challenges not generalist agencies treating healthcare as just another vertical.

We have spent years refining our approach in the Australian market, where similar pressures exist. We know what it takes to recruit effectively in healthcare: deep sector knowledge, structured processes, honest communication, and a genuine commitment to long-term relationships over quick placements.

Manchester provides the ideal base for our UK operations; central, well-connected, and positioned to serve practices and professionals across the country. It also offers us a unique position to expand into Europe over time.

Starting with Dental – Scaling Across Healthcare

Our UK operations begin with a clear focus: dental recruitment. This is deliberate. By concentrating on one speciality initially, we can build the deep market knowledge and relationships that distinguish effective specialist recruitment from generic candidate matching.

We will support both permanent and locum placements across the full spectrum of dental roles:

  • Dentists and Specialist Dentists
  • Dental Nurses
  • Dental Therapists and Hygienists
  • Practice Managers
  • Non-clinical and support roles

Our model is built for expansion. As we establish our dental recruitment operations, we will progressively extend into additional healthcare specialities. The infrastructure, processes, and team we are building are designed to scale rapidly across multiple sectors.

Led by Jem Melcher

Gorilla Jobs UK is led by Jem Melcher, a Senior Partner within the organisation with over a decade of experience in healthcare and healthcare recruitment.

Jem has headed our Allied Health division in Australia for more than five years, working closely with employers and clinicians in markets where demand consistently outstrips supply. He understands the real-world pressures practices face when vacancies remain unfilled, and what clients and candidates genuinely need from a recruitment partner.

Originally from the UK, Jem has returned to establish and grow our UK operation, bringing proven systems and experience while building a service tailored to the specific needs of the UK market.

How We Work: Structured & Transparent

Our approach is built on four core values that inform everything we do:

  • Compassion: Recruitment is about people, careers, and patient care, not just filling vacancies.
  • Transparency: We communicate openly and honestly at every stage of the process.
  • Innovation: We continually improve how we work, using insights and technology to deliver better outcomes.
  • Quality: We focus on sustainable, long-term matches rather than short-term fixes.

For dental practices, this means working with a recruiter who will take the time to understand your patient base, service model, and clinical priorities before presenting candidates. We shortlist only professionals we have personally spoken with and who understand the role, location, and expectations.

For dental professionals, it means having a knowledgeable partner who asks the right questions: where you want to work and why, how you prefer to structure your week, the type of practice environment that suits you. Whether you are exploring options or ready to move immediately, we approach every conversation as the start of a longer-term relationship.

A Track Record That Speaks for Itself

This expansion is backed by demonstrated results. In Australia, Gorilla Jobs has grown to become one of the leading healthcare and legal recruitment companies in the market.

The numbers reflect a sustained commitment to service quality:

  • Over 8,000 clients served globally
  • More than 500 independent reviews with a five-star rating
  • A team of over 30 specialist consultants
  • Over $1 million invested in marketing and technology infrastructure

Our Australian operations are ISO 9001:2015 certified, and we are working towards full accreditation for our UK operations over the coming months. Our UK team operates to the same quality management standards and processes, ensuring consistency in how we work across both markets.

These results were not achieved by trying to be everything to everyone. They came from focused specialisation, consistent processes, and a genuine commitment to doing recruitment differently.

One Organisation, Two Markets

Gorilla Jobs UK is not a separate experiment. It is an extension of an established and successful operation. The Manchester office operates to the same standards, uses the same systems, and upholds the same values as our Australian business.

This means UK clients and candidates benefit from the infrastructure and expertise we have built over eight years, adapted specifically for the UK market. It also means we have the resources and commitment to scale properly, not tentatively.

What Comes Next

We are currently establishing our Manchester operations and beginning conversations with dental practices and professionals across the UK.

In the coming months, we will progressively expand our service offering into additional healthcare specialities, applying the same focused, specialist approach that has driven our success in dental and other sectors in Australia.

Our aim is straightforward: to make healthcare recruitment in the UK more efficient, more transparent, and more human — for both clients and candidates.
